Literature on the value of Ketamine

General

There a number of systematic reviews and opinion articles on the overall value of ketamine infusions. Value is not only evident in mental health but also in chronic pain and growing number of conditions with a central nervous system attribution to it. See more

Depression

Treatment resistant depression is clearly an indication for ketamine therapy since the first study in 2000. There are many systematic reviews and expert opinions on its value including suicidality and bipolar depression. See more here

Anxiety

Anxiety is another mental health condition where Ketamine is being increasingly considered a treatment option. It may be more warranted in refractory anxiety, social anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder. See more here

Substance Abuse

There have been three recent systematic reviews on the value of ketamine in substance use disorders, including alcohol, cocaine, and opioid use disorders. These have been found promising although more studies are required. See more here

Other mental mealth disorders

Ketamine has been showing value in Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Eating Disorder. A systematic review shows great promise but the evidence is limited and more trials are required. See more here.

Chronic pain conditions

A systematic review and Delphi study of experts show the value of Ketamine in complex regional pain syndrome, neuropathic pain, and palliative care. A case study found value in trigeminal neuralgia. See more here

Other medical conditions

Ketamine has been found to have anti-inflammatory effects and reduce fatigue. There are cases that support its use in Long Covid. There is strong rationale to use it in Alzheimers as well. See more here
